The Werk Academy was created in 2007 to bring new subject matter and a new appearance to adult education in the fields of film, style and communication by some of its leading individuals including fashion designers, recognized ma-nagers, photographers, film and theatrical professionals. Behind the outstanding results and the reborn values of today’s fashion, design, film and literature stand studios, workshops and communities and not stand-alone geniuses.
This is why there is a growing need for professionals competent in design, preparation,
organization, production and its related communication who can participate as creative
members of teams. They include backstage professionals who bring about action and illusions on stage or in front of the camera. They create the connection between the artist and the market in public view.
Imparting theoretical knowledge is not enough for the Werk. It wants to show its students how today’s world works, what sort of flows, fashions and styles influence art, film, design and media. The Academy tries to imbue living knowledge and to offer opportunities for students to test themselves in live situations. Students on any course can attend any lecture
outside their own course, so they can get a deeper appreciation of each others’work and of the different fields of thinking. We give an opportunity for every student to contribute their curiosity, their knowledge and the efforts to the activity of this workshop in an adult way. The Werk Academy is always looking for new means of culture and creativity training, and every year a new section has been introduced: In 2008 the Film Academy, in 2009 the Writers’ Academy, in 2010 the Gastro Academy opened.

Stylist training in the Werk
This is one of the success stories of the Werk Academy. Its goal is to train professionals who are involved at a high level in preparation, organization and production workflows either as professional support under or as assistants to fashion designers, fashion professionals, photographers, interior designers, event organizers, and image-builders. Besides solving component tasks, they are able to independently execute smaller projects. Our stylists take part in preparing Werk
films, thus obtaining their own experience in styling films.
We do not stop at the level of theory, as not only do the best practitioners in the domestic profession train with us but today our students get practice everywhere: in fashion shows, in photo shoots, in fashion events, and not least in the Werk’s own events. Some of their names have already appeared in fashion magazines. The Academy also offers students the opportunity to visit most of Europe’s fashion events and fairs in the company of a professional. The training is divided into an intial Foundation year and second Advanced year. In the second year, students deepen the knowledge they gained in the Foundation year with true project-type practical tasks such as fashion show organization, commercial film preparation and magazine shoots, and they prepare their own portfolios.
